You don't have to wait for a holiday or special occasion to set a proper table. Whether you're throwing a formal dinner party or just having a few friends over for a more casual affair, putting a little thought into your table setting is a quick and simple way to impress your dinner guests. Instructions

Place the dinner fork to the left of the dinner plate.

Position the knife to the right of the dinner plate. Orient the knife so that its blade faces the plate.

Place the teaspoon to the right of the knife, on the right side of the place setting.

Place the small dessert fork to the left of the dinner plate.

Position the largest fork, the dinner fork, to the left of the dessert fork on the left side of the place setting.

Situate the salad fork to the left of the dinner fork.

Place the knife to the right of the dinner plate. Turn the knife to face the blade toward the plate.

Position the small teaspoon to the right of the knife, on the right side of the place setting.

Place the larger, rounded soup spoon to the right of the teaspoon.
